Emergency Rental Assistance

The Fresno Center’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program will begin on March 15, 2021 and is available to residents in the City of Fresno that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and are unable to pay their full amount of rent and utilities from April 1, 2020 to current. Subject to availability of funding, the City of Fresno will pay 100% of an eligible tenant’s past due rent owed if the landlord accepts that as full payment of the debt.


Tenant Eligibility Requirements:

  • Rental Property is located in the City of Fresno; and
  • Tenant must meet income requirements (refer to Fresno County Area Median Income table below); and
  • Tenant must be unable to pay the full amount of rent because of a loss of income due to COVID-19; and
  • Tenant must provide qualification of unemployment benefits or experience a reduction in income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship due directly or indirectly to COVID-19; and
  • Tenant must provide documentation that rent arrears and/or utility arrears is owed; and
  • Tenant must complete the tenant portion of the online application

Landlord Eligibility Requirements:

  • Rental Property is located in the City of Fresno; and
  • Tenant must meet income requirements (refer to Fresno County Area Median Income table below); and
  • Tenant must be unable to pay the full amount of rent because of a loss of income due to COVID-19; and
  • Landlord must complete the landlord portion of the online application
