The Fresno Center Community Food Distribution
The Fresno Center has been serving low income families throughout Fresno with food resources for many years. Nearly 200,000 have been impacted with our services. Our clientele struggle with food insecurity and food hardship due to a number of challenges. Seasonal and unstable employment along with generational poverty forces our families to choose among survival costs – food, shelter, utilities or medical care. 5.6% of those visiting TFC are homeless which means that 94.4% are families in search of help needed to put food on the table at home. 34% of those served are over 18 years old. 30% are Hispanic, 30% API, the rest are a mixture of ethnicities to include African-American, Caucasian, and Native -American.
Currently we provide food boxes once per month – last Monday of every month from 1p.m. to 3:00 pm and is located at TFC parking lot – in the heart of Southeast Fresno. Through this program, clients are able to receive meal boxes which consist of canned vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, cereal, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, protein and more. It’s enough nutritional food to sustain a family for approximately one week.
We recently received a grant from No Kids Hungry that allows us to enhance our food boxes with nutritional meals to support families with children 0-5.
Our partner organization for Food Distribution is the Central California Food Bank.
