CASE MANAGER INTERN

Job Description

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge in employment and training programs or equivalent experience. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be competent with various computer programs. Must be able to function with minimal supervision and demonstrate sound judgment consistently. Exceptional customer service skills are highly desired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Under the supervision of the Job Development Coordinator, the Case Manger Intern is responsible for meeting with clients to determine their employment needs, building rapport, writing case notes, following up with clients, facilitating workshops, screening clients for qualifications, etc. Case Manager Intern must maintain confidentiality regarding individual client and program operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assists and manage a case load of 50 clients, helping them with employment and training
  • Schedules and/or confirms appointments with clients
  • Assists with facilitating workshops and assessing clients’ job readiness
  • May assist with gathering required documentation necessary to determine eligibility 
  • Explains program services, including policies and procedures 
  • Enter case notes in clients’ files 
  • Have integrity and empathy
  • Passion working with the underserve community
  • Assists with information gathering, searching electronic databases and routine clients’ inquiries and questions 
  • Collaborates with partners and non-partners to facilitate the delivery of services to the clients
  • Arrange and make referrals to various community resources
  • Provide assistance and guidance to clients 
  • Assists in identifying job seekers that may need more individualized career services and makes referrals
  • Maintains Basic Career customer filing system 
  • Provides monthly progress reports to Job Development Coordinator
  • Maintain databases, creates Word documents and performs various administrative functions 
  • May be assigned to work on special projects as needed 
  • May assist with retention calls and documentation 
  • May represent The Fresno Center at events such job/career fairs, training career fairs, community events, etc. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Case Manager Intern must have the ability to work with clients who are angry, frustrated and/or frightened as a result of losing their job(s); must be able and willing to handle work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.   • Knowledge of local industries that encompass the economy and demographics of Fresno County with specific understanding and awareness of job skill requirements; ability to analyze fiscal, demographic and labor market information as it relates to the development of customer needs.

  • Working knowledge of funding statutes, regulations, policies and procedures as prescribed by Federal, State, County and Local Governments and as they relate to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; ability to talk and hearing acuity to converse with staff and customers, ability to sit and/or stand for up to three hours at a time and lift/move 50 pounds on a regular basis. The employee uses computer, business equipment and telephone.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual (Hmong preferred)
  • Must be available M-F between the hours 8am-5pm, and occasional weekends
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 16 hours a week
  • This a 3-month commitment internship position

The Fresno Center is seeking individuals who are passionate about writing and marketing, to fill our current Marketing Intern position. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Email Marketing, Social Medias, and different marketing tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Create strategies for engaging e-mail campaigns and newsletters.
  • Develop and create engaging content with our design team.
  • Help maintain and improve the company's brand and message.
  • Assist Sales with data research/mining.
  • Utilize social media and develop strategies for web-based messaging.
  • Design fliers for department and other staff as needed

SKILLS:

The successful candidate should possess the following skills/attributes:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Passionate about working for the underserved community, immigrants, and ESL
  • Solid communication skills, both on paper and in person
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated experience in project management 
  • Strong sense of initiative, demonstrated by accomplishing tasks; improving current work processes; and assisting others when necessary
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in situations of flux and in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Unwavering attention to detail and commitment to world-class quality
  • Ability to embrace deadlines
